Action Against Conflict Minerals
1. CalsonicKansei Americas CSR policy
CalsonicKansei Americas’s goal is to ensure ethically, socially, and environmentally conscious business practices at every level of its global supply chain.
Natural resources mined in the Congo and its adjoining countries are becoming an issue of great concern as they could be the source of funds for armed groups who are violating human rights and destroying the environment.
Although the regulations of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (enacted in 2012) do not apply to CalsonicKansei Americas, we agree with the spirit of the law and the common international understanding on this issue. Accordingly, we have decided to take action to avoid, and hopefully prevent, situations that contribute to human rights violations and/or engage in environmentally destructive practices . For that reason, CalsonicKansei Americas is ceasing the use of conflict minerals as a part of our CSR initiatives.
2. Purchasing initiatives
We check throughout our supply chain to determine if minerals that are contained in the raw materials and components used to make our products are connected to human rights violations or actions resulting in environmental destruction that have a negative impact on our society. We are committed to taking action to ensure the use of minerals that do not contribute to the conflict. We request that all our suppliers conduct the same activities across their supply chains.
